Implants

What are Dental implants?

Dental implants are metal frames or posts that can be surgically fixed into your jawbone, allowing your dentist to then mount a replacement tooth on top.

Dental Implants are designed to keep dentures, artificial teeth and bridges permanently in place within your mouth.

How do Dental Implants work?

Your dental implant will be fused to your jaw bone, providing stability, almost like a natural root. They ensure that your dentures or artificial teeth won't slip, making eating and drinking easier and more comfortable. This can make dental implants a preferable option to removable dentures, as they feel more natural.

Can anyone get Dental Implants?

To be eligible for Dental Implants, you must be committed to your oral hygiene, with a good routine in place, as they require a lot of care. Only patients with healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implants will be eligible.

What's the process?

First, your dentist will use our In-house CT scanner to determine if you are eligible for implants. A CT scan of your mouth will reveal the strength of your supporting tissues and bone.

If there is enough bone of good quality, then the implant placement can be planned. In some cases, bone augmentation or grafting is required, which can add to the treatment length and cost.

There are four phases to the treatment:

  1. Treatment planning
  2. Implant placement
  3. Crown placement
  4. Maintenance and hygiene

Stages 2 to 3 can collectively take between 3 - 6 months, as your implant must be given time to integrate with the bone before a permanent tooth can be attached. While you wait, we will provide you with a temporary crown.

Once I have implants, do I still need to go to the dentist?

Most certainly. Dental implants require a lot of care and a good oral hygiene routine. After your procedure, you must visit your dentist regularly to ensure the success of your implants.

How long do implants last for?

With the right aftercare routine, your Implants can last for up to 20 years.
