Same Day Implants – All-on-4 Technique

Everyone has heard of dental implants – an artificial tooth that is composed of a crown on top of a titanium screw that is placed in the jaw bone. In this article, we explain all about same-day implants.

More and more people are choosing to have their missing teeth replaced with implants, and although may seem costly compared to the alternatives, like dentures, they are essentially the most comfortable and the best value for money over the course of your lifetime.

But what if you have lost a whole arch of teeth and will, or already rely on a full denture, maybe one that is loose? It can be far too expensive and enduring, in terms of treatment, to replace each of the missing teeth with individual implants. Cambridge Dental is able to offer our patients a more convenient procedure known as ‘same-day implants’ or the ‘all-on-4’ treatment solution.

Replacing Multiple Teeth

When so many teeth have been lost, or are due to be lost, a denture is often offered as the only solution for many patients. At Cambridge Dental, we pride ourselves on delivering the most advanced treatments and we can offer you an alternative solution to loose, ill-fitting and cumbersome dentures. The all-on-4 implant treatment solution can offer an excellent alternative to replace a full arch of missing teeth without the need for individual implants.

We can replace a full arch of teeth using just a selected number of implants, usually 4, sometimes 6, all placed at strategic points in your jaw, to support a full arch of teeth. We place 2 implants towards the front of the jaw, and 2 further back at precise angles to provide additional stability and retention. A fixed bridge of teeth is then attached to these implants immediately without the need to wait many months for the integration of the implant screws in the surrounding bone.

The Advantages Of Same-Day Implants

  • Unlike single-tooth implants, we do not need to wait months for the implant screws to integrate into the surrounding bone. We can place a whole arch of teeth onto the implants the same day that they are placed in your jaw. It is advisable to eat softer foods for some time as you get used to them. Imagine – a full set of teeth in a single day!
  • It’s a lot less costly than multiple individual implants.
  • They are much more comfortable than the alternative of full dentures. They are stable, look natural and most of all, you do not need to worry that they may fall out when talking or eating.
  • They are far easier to clean than conventional dentures and don’t need for you to remove them at night, avoiding both the embarrassment as well as the inconvenience of having to clean them outside the mouth.
